# Active - The number of enrolled children with at least one valid recording.
# Pending – The number of children who are enrolled in the program who have not completed at least one valid recording.
# Completed – The number of children who have completed participation in the program.
# Dropped – The number of children who have discontinued participation in the program.
# Dropped after 1st Rec – The number of children who discontinued participation in the program after submitting at least one recording
Last Snap – The date that the most recent LENA Development Snapshot was administered.
Last Valid Rec – The date of the most recent valid recording.
Enrollment Date – The date the child / family was enrolled in the program (mm/dd/yyyy)
Turns PCTL – The Conversational Turns represents the number of adult-child interactions on a recording day. The number in the row is a percentile value, showing how the child compares to an age-matched normative sample. This number represents the average of the three most recent recordings for the child. The number for groups / organizations is calculated by averaging the child values. If an individual child has only two recordings, then the average of the two is used for that child. If a child has only one recording, then that single recording is used for that child.
Turns Trend – The Turns Trend is the amount of recent change in the Turns percentile. It represents the average increase or decrease in percentile for the most recent four recordings. The number for groups / organizations is an average of individual child values. If an individual child only has two recordings, then the trend simply compares the first to the last. If a child has only three recordings, the trend compares the most recent to the average of the previous two.
Words PCTL – The Adult Word Count is the number of adult words spoken to or near the child on recording day. The number is a percentile value, showing how the child compares to an age-matched normative sample. This number represents the average of the three most recent recordings for the child. The number for groups / organizations is calculated by averaging the child values. If an individual child has only two recordings, then the average of the two is used for that child. If a child only has one recording, then that single recording is used.
Words Trend – The Words Trend is the amount of recent change in the Words percentile. It represents an average increase or decrease in percentile units for the most recent four recordings. If an individual child has only two recordings, then the trend simply compares the first to the last. If a child has only three recordings, then the trend compares the most recent to the average of the previous two.
TV / Elec Minutes – The number of minutes on a LENA recording where the dominant sound is related to TV or other electronics.
TV / Elec Trend – TV / Electronic Trend is the amount of recent change in the number of minutes of electronic sounds in the child’s language environment. This can include TV, radio, cell phones, tablets, toys etc.
Reading Minutes – The number of minutes parents estimate reading with their child each day.
Reading Trend – The Reading Trend is the amount of recent change in the number of minutes parents estimate reading with their child.
Total Stars – The accumulation of stars for the participant for Adult Words, Conversational Turns, and Reading Minutes.
# Failed Recs – The number of recordings submitted for a child with an error that rendered the recordings unusable.
# Valid Recs – The number of recordings submitted for a child without an error, meaning the recording is usable for calculations.
AVA Gain – The AVA Gain is the change in percentile (PCTL) over the course of the program using all available recording data for those children that have 6 or more valid recordings. If a child has less than 6 acceptable recordings, there is no gain. Once the child completes 6 or more recordings, the gain uses the most recent percentile minus the first percentile.
Best Fit AVA PCTL – Automatic Vocalization Assessment (AVA) represents the estimated complexity of the child’s vocal output (in terms of consonant / vowel distribution and vocalization (length) on the recording day. The number is a percentile value, showing how the child compares to an age-matched normative sample. This number represents the average of either the child’s most recent AVA PCTL if they have completed up to 5 valid recordings or the best fit value if the child has completed 6 or more valid recordings. The number for group / organizations is an average of the individual child values.
Snap Gain – The Snapshot Gain is the change in PCTL over the course of the program using all available Snapshot data for children who are 36 months of age or less. If a child has less than three Snapshots, then there is no gain. Once the child completes three or more Snapshots, the gain uses the most recent percentile minus the first percentile.
Snapshot PCTL – The LENA Developmental Snapshot is a 52-item parent-reported questionnaire estimating a child’s expressive and receptive language skills. The value is calculated for children who are 36 months of age or less. The number is a percentile value, showing how the child compares to age-matched normative sample. This number represents the child’s most recent Snapshot PCTL if a parent has completed fewer than three Snapshots or the best fit value if a parent has completed three or more. The value will show “n/a” if the child is greater than 36 months of age. The number for groups / organizations is calculated by averaging the individual child values.
